...And another way BOW supports our community:

The Rhode Island Food Bank Community Farm located in Bristol on Poppasquash Point is looking for summer volunteers!  This summer, this farm will be one of four locations across Rhode Island growing food for the hungriest and neediest in our state.  100% of the produce is donated to the Food Bank and distributed through their program, Pantry Express.  The Pantry Express allows food pantry clients to obtain fresh produce throughout the summer months.

The farm in Bristol is looking for volunteers to assist in planting, cultivating the seedlings, weeding and eventually harvesting.  It is a beautiful, peaceful spot, run by Ray Sabourin and his band of dedicated volunteers.  Ray is working on a schedule for volunteers and probably will be working at the farm on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings beginning in June and running through September.  He is also available to schedule Saturday morning work.

Please consider coming to the farm this summer.  It is a great way to engage people of all ages in the process of feeding the hungry.

If you would like to discuss this project or if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Paula Ferrato at 247-7177 or paula.ferrato@verizon.net.
